Rip Rap has been used for 100's of years around the world, however it
is a new concept to our particular lake.
Horseshoe Bend introduced rip rap to Lake of the Ozarks in 1999 and we
have now performed over 2,000 rip rap installations.
Rip rap can be used in many different applications and is generally the
most cost effective way to do so.
-Protecting seawall footings from undermining (the most common problem
for concrete seawalls on this lake)
-Physically holding a seawall in place
-Stabilizing a raw piece of shoreline
-Dissipating wave action as it reaches the shoreline.
Rip Rap is also Ameren UE and the Corp. of Engineers preffered method to
stabilizing a piece of shoreline. It is environmentally
friendly, contributes to a calmer lake, and the process in which it is
installed has a smaller effect on the natural environment then seawalls
and
other forms of bank stabilization. Furthermore, Ameren UE requires that
a newly constructed seawall must have rip rap incorporated into its
design.
The shoreline experts at Horseshoe Bend are more than happy to provide
free advice and estimates to all lake front home owners, and provide
written
warranties for all of our recommended work.
